Soft Mini Two

Soft Mini-Two is a cosmetic instrument for the determination of the melanin level of the skin. The level of melanin of the skin depends both on the phototype and on the length of time previously spent in the sun.

The phototype is expressed as a number and it is an indicator of a subject’s natural tolerance to the sun (genetically determined). This is based on hair, eye, and skin colour therefore subjects with fair hair, skin and light coloured eyes are more prone to burning than other types.

Knowing the melanin concentration and phototype of a subject will provide information on how long they can be exposed before burning themselves and if they can perform a laser/IPL or deep peel treatments. The power of the laser/IPL machines has to be regulated on the melanin level of the patients, in order to avoid adverse affects after treatments.

Soft Mini-Two provides results in a few seconds by simply pressing the probe onto the skin. The measurement of melanin ranges from 0 to 100; 10 being the level in very fair skin and 100 very dark skin (black).

Soft Mini-Two may be used also to evaluate the effects of lightening treatments employed on skins to provide enhanced brightness and clarity to the appearance of skins. Monitoring any effects on results (lowering of results) allows operators to demonstrate and/or evaluate the effectiveness of products.
